Biodiversity Discovery Centre Lieteberg, one of the gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park, is located in a former sand and gravel quarry in Zutendaal. In the early 1990s, beekeepers established a breeding centre for Carniolan bees here, which has since grown into a true centre of expertise on bees (Bestuivers, Steunpunt Bijenteelt Limburg) as well as an discovery centre focused on the local biodiversity of the Hoge Kempen National Park.
Highlights include the Barefoot Path, the BioDrome, and the Butterfly Garden. You’ll also find all tourist information about Zutendaal and the Hoge Kempen National Park here, such as walking and cycling routes, bike rental, and more.
Looking to relax? Take a break on the cosy grass terrace of Bistro Lieteberg and enjoy a tasty treat. Be sure to try the Lieteberg honey beer!
Want more? Our honey beer—brewed with honey produced by the bees at Lieteberg—a “Honing Potteke” from Lieteberg, as well as other local products and fun souvenirs are available in the Lieteberg shop!
